Milan has been named the world’s best fashion and luxury shopping destination. Indeed the city beat out its competitors Paris, New York City, London and Rome for the top spot. It is a research done by SEA that shows that Milan is the best destination. The title was awarded to Milan for a number of reasons like average receipt values, tourist numbers and tourist financial diversity.

Indeed Milan attracts the lowest number of visitors compared to Paris or NYC (around 6 million a year for Milan), but it was concluded that most of those tourists were there specifically to shop. Tourists in Milan spent an average of €1,398 (approx. $1,568) per transaction. In Paris the average is per transaction. In Paris the average is 1,241 (approx.. $1,392), London €1,240 (approx.. $1,390), Rome €978 (approx. $1,097) and in NYC only $800.

It is not surprising: Milan has great luxury shopping. There is the Quadrilatero della Moda, the heart of high-end shopping in Milan. Also called Via Montenapoleone fashion district. There are four streets:

Via Sant’Andrea (Armani, Chanel, Moschino, Kenzo, Hermes, Miu Miu, etc.)

Via Montenapoleone (YSL, Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Versace, Louis Vuitton, etc.)

Via della Spiga & Via Corso Venezia (D&G, Prada, Roberto Cavalli, Chopard, etc.)
