We’ve been fans of Martenero since they started last year. Filled with a very reliable automatic Miyota movement and available with a few customization options, they get it right. They’re very new, so we’re really excited to see what comes next.

Weiss Watch Company – $950

Trained by Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin, Cameron Weiss knows what he’s doing, and it shows with his mechanical Standard Issue Field Watch. Sporting a traditional design in black or white, Weiss mixes it up with a subdial for the seconds. The movement is made in-house in L.A. from Swiss parts, so this is a whole new level of American manufacturing.

Kobold – $1,100+

Started as a Carnegie Mellon student project, Kobold watches have ballooned into something great. James Gandolfini designed a watch for them and explorer Ranulph Fiennes (Ralph’s father) is a brand ambassador. It takes a big watch to stand up to those big names, and Kobold delivers.

RGM Watches – $3,350+

One of the finest American watch manufacturers, Lancaster, Pennsylvania’s RGM Watches have led domestic watchmaking since 1993. Making movements in house as well as using ETA, these watches don’t just shoot for best in the US, they’re aimed right at Switzerland.

Smith & Bradley – $1,595

Founded in 2012 by two watch fanatics in Illinois, Smith & Bradley is one the new hands operating the bellows on American watchmaking. Armed with an ETA movement and 200 meters of water resistance, the built-to-order Atlantis might be your next tool watch.
