Launched to represent a rare re-edition for the high-end brand, this TAG Heuer’s timepiece is reminiscent of the Heuer Carrera Montreal from the ’70s, an iconic watch since its introduction almost 60 years ago and which has carried the brand’s racing heritage and audacious spirit through the decades.
According to Catherine Eberle-Devaux, TAG Heuer’s Heritage Director: “The Heritage Department selected the white Montreal design to mark TAG Heuer’s anniversary year because the piece is pure beauty and the colorful dial is full of joy. We played with the existing design codes and brought them to life in a bold new way, merging them with the Carrera spirit and breaking the rules in true TAG Heuer fashion.”
This limited-edition modern watch is powered by Heuer 02 movement, a classy in-house innovation entirely Swiss-made in TAG Heuer’s Chevenez manufacture. The luxury watch comprises a column wheel and a vertical clutch, which are remarkable signatures of improved chronograph timekeeping and high-quality manufacture movements, and also boasts an imposing power reserve of 80 hours.
This 39mm TAG Heuer Carrera Montreal style is a 160th-anniversary limited edition with three blue counters and a blue & white opaline dial. The distinctive Carrera name and HEUER shield are printed on the dial, which is endangered by a domed sapphire crystal that gives the watch a retro appearance. The case of this timepiece is made of polished steel and a steel screw-down sapphire case back engraved with “ONE of 1000” numbering.
The thinner internal movement allowed the high-end brand to make the case that much slimmer to both look more modern and achieve more comfort for the wearer. This contemporary watch includes a redesigned oscillating weight, visible through the screwed-down sapphire crystal, that is ornamented with a lacquer-filled engraving that differentiates the timepiece as an anniversary edition.
