Love is the diamond that the jewelry and art decorate!Beyoncé and Jay-Z
The iconic diamond has been worn by Mary Whitehouse, wife of American diplomat Edwin Sheldon Whitehouse, Hollywood icon Audrey Hepburn, and singer Lady Gaga. This is the first time it has been featured in an advertising campaign, as it’s also the first time, Beyoncé and Jay-Z appeared in a campaign together!
Beyoncé and JAY-Z are the epitome of the modern love story. As a brand that has always stood for love, strength and self-expression, we could not think of a more iconic couple that better represents Tiffany’s values. We are honored to have the Carters as a part of the Tiffany family.Alexandre Arnault, Executive Vice President of Product & Communications.
An exploration of connection and vulnerability, the “About Love” campaign, besides featuring the iconic yellow Tiffany Diamond, has as the backdrop Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Equals Pi (1982), part of a private collection, the piece has never been on public display before.
Jay-Z, in a clean black tux, looks flawless with Beyoncé’s black cutout dress. The famous rapper has his own fair share of jewels, such as a Bird on a Rock brooch by Jean Schlumberger, one of the most renowned jewelers of the 20th century who was once vice president of Tiffany & Co. He also wears a striking Apollo brooch in platinum, yellow gold, and diamonds, as well as a slew of other Tiffany pieces, including one of their new engagement rings for men.
The yellow diamond weighs 128.54 carats and boasts 82 facets. It was discovered in South Africa’s Kimberley Mines in 1877. Tiffany’s founder, Charles Lewis Tiffany, bought the rough diamond the following year. It’s been considered an important gemological discovery ever since, and today hangs from a platinum necklace set with 16 cushion-cut diamonds and 46 round brilliant diamonds.
Representing a new era at Tiffany, the campaign sets the tone for close collaboration and shared vision between the luxury jewelry brand and the famous couple, Beyonce and Jay-Z, as Tiffany will also donate $2 million toward historically Black colleges and universities.
On September 2, “About Love” will officially be launched, and on September 15, a film will be released on Tiffany’s website, paying homage to Breakfast at Tiffany’s with a new version of the song “Moon River” sung by Beyoncé and captured on Super 8 film by Jay-Z, created by acclaimed director Dikayl Rimmasch and Derek Milton.
