The Italian sports automaker luxury brand has unveiled its latest stunning offering: the Ferrari 812 Superfast, the most powerful and fastest automobile in the brand’s history. Designed for the racing purists, the vehicle shares design cues with past icons including the Ferrari 812 Superfast and the 365 GTB4 from the late 1960s.

Despite its exquisite styling, it’s the performance numbers that truly set this Ferrari from all of its peers specifically a power output of 123 cv/l. Other technological highlights in the luxury car include improved handling characteristics as well as being the first Ferrari to be equipped with an electric power steering system.

The Superfast name has prompted snarky comments from some quarters but Ferrari fans will know it references 1964 500 Superfast, the car that arguably first set the template for aristocratic Ferrari V12 high performance.

That had a 400bhp V12, an unbelievable output for the time. The new car features a normally aspirated 6.5-litre V12, which produces 789bhp and revs to a thunderous 8500rpm. There are no turbos here to stifle throttle response, and 80 percent of the engine’s torque is available from 3500rpm, enhancing driveability.

The Ferrari 812 Superfast will make its world premiere at the Geneve International Motor Show.
