Tiffany & Co. Unveiled Its Most Expensive Piece of Jewellery Ever in Dubai
Revealed during a high jewellery extravaganza, the reimagined 1939 World’s Fair necklace by Tiffany & co. features an 80-carat diamond at its centre.

With Dubai enjoying a delayed Expo 2020 high, late November was an opportune time to unveil a necklace that’s inextricably linked to bygone World Fair, which promised visitors to pre-World War II New York “a glimpse into the world of tomorrow”. In the 21st-century UAE, there was plenty more for private clients and starlets (think Razane Jammal, Zeina Makki and Laila Abdallah) to covet. In a sleek, strictly-by-invitation exhibition at ICD Brookfield Place, Tiffany & Co. brought more than 200 high jewellery pieces to the Middle East for the first time.

Blooming with lush botanicals, the exhibition space featured a colour palette inspired by the jewel-toned stained glass of Louis Comfort Tiffany’s famed lamps. First seen in New York earlier this autumn, the jewels displayed ranged from haute new pieces to archive masterpieces by Jean Schlumberger – often fantastical designs infused with wit and whimsy – and exceptional loose gemstones.

As well as the jewels, the intimate venue had breathtaking views of the Dubai skyline for the attendees to enjoy, and everyone was able to admire Tiffany & Co.’s takeover of the Burj Khalifa. The ‘About Love’ campaign, starring Jay-Z, Beyonce and that famous yellow diamond, was emblazoned across the world’s tallest building to celebrate the exhibition. It was also audaciously highlighted that Tiffany was once at the top of the high jewellery tree – and no doubt hopes to reclaim its tiara.
