Dreamed up and designed by the Italian-based naval top architect Elena Nappi, the “Carapace” is a hybrid vessel and luxury yacht that can travel on both the surface of the sea and underwater. As a superyacht and a submarine, the “Carapace” submerges to a depth of 985 feet for up to 10 days at a time, providing and delivering to its future exclusive guests and owners incredible views of marine life.

An Innovative Concept: Get Amazed By This Luxury Yacht And Submarine

According to Elena Nappi: “The world of luxury submarines is one of the last frontiers in the field of experimentation, and perhaps the hybrid will be the language of the future. (…) Very often luxury yacht owners are looking for original solutions to be able to offer their friends and their family something special, and certainly, that of a diving cruise of this type is something unprecedented in the superyacht market.”

The luxury yacht and submarine would be powered by a diesel-electric and fuel cell system and was designed to have a light aluminum superstructure that measures 256 feet in length. Presenting a pioneering and unique design, the concept looks like something straight out of a James Bond movie, but it is just a signal that tells how will be the future of superyachts: all will be sub-aquatic.

The luxury yacht would hold three deck levels. In addition to its submarine capabilities, the three-level boat will also be fully equipped with all the luxury amenities you’d expect from a superyacht. Whether the boat is operating above or below the water, exclusive guests will have access to VIP cabins, a lounge, a spa, a bar and a health club between the onboard amenities and facilities. The vessel innovative concept by Elena Nappi represents a “new class of mega yachts,” according to its architect and designer.

At present, the modern yacht and submarine “Carapace” is just a concept, and Elena Nappi predicts it will be a long while before anything like it hits the waters. Furthermore, “Carapace” would stand out, thanks to a breathtaking tech-meets-organic aesthetic with flowing curves that travel from bow to stern. The luxury yacht features several beautiful on-deck entertainment areas, including a beach club complete with a pool.
