Soccer legend and fashion icon David Beckham has been announced as Tudor’s new brand ambassador. The stylish man has been long famous for his endeavours on the soccer field, including countless modelling stints. Indeed, from his impeccable style to his edgy, adventurous lifestyle, Beckham seems like a good fit for the relatively new brand of luxury watches.
The Swiss watchmaking brand first made its debut in 1926, after Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf first registered “The Tudor” as a brand. Two decades later, Wilsdorf founded Montres Tudor SA, which produces watches that reflect the traditional philosophy of Rolex while keeping the price point at an accessible level.
Each watch brings an authentic elegance, worn by style mavens and adventurers alike, with today’s archetypal models including the Black Bay, Pelagos and Style. Since 2015, Tudor introduced mechanical manufacture movements.
Beckham himself admires the brand, sharing that “as an Englishman”, one really appreciates “a nice suit and a nice watch”, and the way they complement each other.
“I was attracted to Tudor by the attention to detail I could see in their watches,” Beckham said in a statement. “I then learned about the history of the brand. One of adventure, pioneer diving, and daring expeditions. I was instantly hooked.”
Beckham is also the face of Tudor’s campaign, “Born to Dare”, which shows snippets of Beckham’s soccer career and concludes that while some are “born to follow”, others are “born to dare”.
